What is Cognitive Science?

Cognitive science (CogSci) investigates the mental capacities and capabilities of the human being, including foundational processes and prerequisites. Cognitive science furthermore aims to describe and explain cognition in other organisms and in technical and technological systems (artificial intelligence). The objective of cognitive science, then, is to investigate cognitive systems and their relevant structures, inherent processes, and consequent performance. Founded on the basic assumption that cognition can be described by calculation, cognitive science spans biological and artificial systems. Read the article here.
